REDS SMOOTHIE
Our reds smoothie is a classic for a reason. It’s like our favorite childhood strawberry milkshake, just with a bit more goodness and a bit more tang. And while classics don’t need much adornment, reds is too good to not enjoy in some fresh and fun ways. One of our newest reds recipes is this winter warmer, berry hot chocolate.
To compliment the fruity hit of reds, we’ve used unsweetened cacao powder. A hot chocolate wouldn’t be a hot chocolate without a hefty hit of cocoa, but it also packs a nutritional punch too. It’s rich in antioxidants and may even contribute to reducing blood pressure. Look out for raw cacao if you really want to maximize the nutrition benefits, but any cocoa powder will do what it’s there to do: add a delicious chocolaty punch.
We sweeten up the recipe with honey – if you’re serving this to kids, (or just channeling your childhood!) you’ll likely want to add a bit more. Serve while it’s still warm, maybe with a cookie for dipping if you fancy it.
This recipe takes just 1 minute to prepare and 5 minutes of total time.
Ingredients
1 packet of kencko reds
1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
1-3 tbsp of honey (depending on desired sweetness)
A pinch of salt
2 cups of plant milk of your choice
1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
Instructions
Combine all the ingredients, in a bowl and whisk thoroughly until fully combined with no lumps.
MICROWAVE:
Pour into 2 microwavable mugs, microwave for 1 minute, and stir.
Microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between to prevent bubbling over, until you reach your desired temperature.
Taste for sweetness and add more honey if desired.
STOVE TOP:
Heat your hot chocolate in a small saucepan over a medium-high heat, whisking occasionally, until warmed through.
Taste for sweetness and add more honey if desired.
